ABOUT AURORA YOUTH RUGBY

Aurora Youth Rugby was founded 38 years ago as one of the six founding members of our local governing organization, Rugby Colorado, which is in turn sanctioned and administered by USA Rugby, headquartered in Boulder. There are now approximately 25 Youth Rugby organizations along the Colorado Front Range. We exist because we think team sports are great for kids, and we think Rugby is the best team sport there is! We feel there is no other sport that emphasizes the principles of teamwork and sportsmanship like rugby does! Participation is open to boys and girls ages 5 thru 15. The sport is easy and fun to learn . . . a great sport for ‘newbies’ that will have kids confidently enjoying themselves very quickly. There are no special ‘skills’ or equipment necessary, if you can run and carry a ball, you’re ready to go! Most of our players are relatively new to the game and close to half are just learning. Our coaches have well over a hundred years experience playing and coaching the game, and our practices are clearly oriented towards teaching those new to the game, while expanding the skills of the more experienced. Our head coach has been with the organization for almost twenty years and is the recipient of the International Olympic Committee’s National Volunteer Coach of the Year Award.
